Upcoming Field Trip

March Field Trip: Rednation Pow-Wow

The 6th Annual Rednation Pow-Wow will be held March 20-21, 2010 at the Clinton Nature Preserve in Winston, Georgia.

The location of the Clinton Nature Preserve is 8702 Ephesus Church Road.  If you take I-20 west to Post Road and then take a left at the exit, you won't get lost. :)

There is a small charge for admission, which is $5 for ages 12-55, $3 for 55+, and $3 for kids 5-12.  Children under 5 are free.

The Rednation Pow-Wow provides an excellent opportunity to photograph many dancers, and their Grand Entrance ceremonies are always inspiring.  My family has attended the Pow-Wow the past two years and we have always had a great time.  There are walking trails on the preserve too, which allow for more nature photography as well.

Gates are open from 10am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday with the Grand Entry held at noon on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.

The Sweetwater Camera Club provides a wide variety of presentations during the year hosted by speakers with expertise in some area of photography, visual arts and associated subjects. In the recent past we have had lectures on framing, preparing photographs for exhibition, scrapbooking, lenses, photographic lighting, portraiture, nature photography, models and props, baby photography, school and wedding photography, field trips and workshops, abstract photography, macro photography, photojournalism, street photography, sports and fashion photography, travels to distant lands, landscape photography, Photoshop image editing, Special Effects photograpy both in-camera and with image editing software, Civil Rights photography and "The Business of Photography - How to make money with your camera."

We have hosted presentations by other photography clubs in the Atlanta Metro area as well. We are always looking for speakers who offer new information and have a specialty that would interest our members. The Sweetwater Camera Club does not currently have a budget to pay speakers but we do offer the opportunity for a presenter to show their work for 45 minutes to an hour in front of an auidience that ranges from 35 to 65 interested and motivated photo hobbiests. We also have several professional photographers among our ranks.

In addition, we often feature an upcoming speaker on the front page of our SweetwaterCameraClub.org website, write a permanent web article about the speaker and for some, actually video their lecture and place it on our website and in our permanent web collection.

If you or someone you know has a photographic specialty, or if you have perfected your art and craft in a specific area of photography and would like to speak at one of our monthly meetings, please contact our vice-president and program chairman, Angelo Muhammad at 678-715-7559 or call the president, Richard Nichols at 404-210-5985. We look forward to hearing from you.
