If you enjoy seeing and making beautiful photographs, you can easily become addicted to the work of Charles Needle. Through his powerful use of color and design, he communicates the core spiritual essences of Nature. Something about his images causes one to stop breathing for a moment and drink in a feeling - timelessness. Without a doubt, 500 years from now or a thousand, someone gazing at his pictures will gain just as much enjoyment and visual understanding from them as we do today.
The good news is that Charles makes presentations, leads workshops and gives up some of his secrets while enticing his ever-growing audience to come partake of and capture a more meaningful visual experience. If you own a camera, you probably "go take pictures" from time to time. After you absorb Charles Needle's message and methodology, you come to understand that a bird on the beach is no longer a bird, but a revelation of nature's design underpinnings which requires an ethereal interaction with the viewer. A typical response might be, "I wish I could make images like that." Another one would be "how do I cross over from random picture taker to confident forceful image maker? What does Charles Needle know that I don't?"
The answer is, Charles Needle uses Nature as a creative perceptual tool, and he does it by the way he manipulates the imagery as he records it. He understands and communicates a parallel universe, a place of peaceful beautiful vibrations. According to Charles,
His website, charlesneedlephoto.com, emphasizes the peaceful healing powers of Nature through visual therapy. Charles promotes the meditative "stress reduction and wellness" attributes of his vision. You might say that he promotes the hypnotic powers of photography as a form of spiritual medicine.
According to him, 99% of his work is done in the camera, not in computer software after the pictures are made. He makes use of props, glass, lighting, reflectors and intimate knowledge of his photographic equipment to create impressionistic special effects and fine art photographs. For some of the educational seminars he leads, he brings with him Photoshop expert Mark Johnson for those who are interested in digital darkroom techniques.
On Thursday evening, June 12th, 2008, Charles was our speaker as well as our "motion" and field trip contest judge. His lecture topic for the evening was "Creative Macro Photography" which coincidentally is the title of his new E-book which you will find on sale at his website www.charlesneedlephoto.com.
