Upcoming Field Trip

March Field Trip: Rednation Pow-Wow

The 6th Annual Rednation Pow-Wow will be held March 20-21, 2010 at the Clinton Nature Preserve in Winston, Georgia.

The location of the Clinton Nature Preserve is 8702 Ephesus Church Road.  If you take I-20 west to Post Road and then take a left at the exit, you won't get lost. :)

There is a small charge for admission, which is $5 for ages 12-55, $3 for 55+, and $3 for kids 5-12.  Children under 5 are free.

The Rednation Pow-Wow provides an excellent opportunity to photograph many dancers, and their Grand Entrance ceremonies are always inspiring.  My family has attended the Pow-Wow the past two years and we have always had a great time.  There are walking trails on the preserve too, which allow for more nature photography as well.

Gates are open from 10am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday with the Grand Entry held at noon on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.

SCC Members to Participate in WellStar Hospital - Chamber of Commerce Photo Exhibitions!

The Exhibits Committee of the Sweetwater Camera Club is pleased to announce our participation in the Cultural Arts Council's February-March office exhibitions at both the WellStar Douglas Hospital and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce. At the January SCC meeting, we discussed these exhibits. Approximately twenty people in the SCC indicated an interest in exhibiting their work. The CAC is looking for about fifty pieces-- that is two to three pieces for each member. Depending upon your participation, the number may be increased or decreased.

The exhibit dates are from the second week in February through mid-April. CAC staff will hang your framed photographs. Pleaes deliver your work at the appointed time.

Delivery: All work must be delivered to the Douglasville Cultural Arts Center, 8652 Campbellton Street, Douglasville, GA. The tentative date for delivery is February 7th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. If you are unable to deliver work at that time, please contact Steve Pritchard, chairperson of the Exhibits Committee, for alternate arrangements.

Subject matter: Open to your discretion, but tasteful. Consider where the work will be displayed. The Cultural Arts Council staff will make the final determination.

Framing: Open to your discretion. All work must be framed and ready to hang. All pieces must have wire hangers, not toothed hangers, hanger loops etc.

Submission and Sales: All work must have the artist's name, title of the work and price attached to the back. You may sell your work during the exhibit with 25% of the proceeds going to the CAC. If you do not desire to sell a piece, please indicate NFS. Each artist must complete and sign the Artist's Agreement and Inventory forms to accompany your work when it is delivered to the Cultural Arts Center.
