The Program Committee has traditionally been chaired by the Vice President, who is Ahgelo Muhammad. However, anyone is welcome to suggest a person or subject for one of our programs. We do not want to showcase photographers who are looking for publicity, we want to bring in leaders in the field, people we can all learn from. The subjects can range from equipment junkies to advanced amateur and professional photographers who have a specialty to hobbyists who have a particular specialty. Above all, the people we want for speakers are people who are GREAT at something, not just people who happen to make their living doing this. In the past, the SCC has brought in people who give seminars, and their payment for speaking is the chance to promote their seminar. I have no problem with this provided that they are good at what they do. What we don’t want is someone who just wants to show off their work to an audience. We want enthusiastic speakers who have something important to impart to an audience. And this isn’t a paying gig, so the reward comes from their interaction with our audience and their opportunity to show their work, skills and knowledge to people who want to know.
